History
The EuroMillions has been around for approximately five years and doesn’t have a lot of history behind it. In fact, the biggest news to date is a tossup between when a Belgian newspaper printed false profiles for winners and when a ticket seller swapped a losing ticket for one that won €2.5 and kept the money.
The largest payout was $285 million in 2006.
How to Play
All players must be 18 years old or older to play with the exception of the UK where the minimum age is 16. A ticket costs £1.50, CHF3.20, or €3.00 depending on which nation players purchase the ticket.
To win, players must guess five numbers (1 to 50) and two “Lucky Stars” (1 to 9).
Odds
Players must guess at least 3 numbers to win anything. Possible combinations include 2 main numbers and 1 Lucky Star (odds are 1 in 39 and it pays ~€9), 1 main number and 2 Lucky Stars (odds are 1 in 103 and it pays ~€10), or 3 main numbers and no Lucky Stars (odds are 1 in 367 and it pays ~€17).
The odds of guessing all five numbers and both Lucky Stars to win the jackpot are 1 in 76,275,360. The total jackpot winnings vary depending on how many times the jackpot has rolled over. The jackpots can rollover eleven times. If no one wins after the eleventh rollover, the jackpot is rolled down by paying out to the winners of the penultimate level.
The overall odds of winning anything are 1 in 24. |
